Hockey 1-4 + Power Skating: Designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating, these 4 badge levels, PLUS power skating, will teach skaters how to be more proficient, quick, agile, and efficient on the ice. Proper techniques for the game of hockey are the primary focus and all elements are taught with out a puck. This curriculum helps skaters understand the importance of developing skills on both sides, right and left and clockwise and counterclockwise. The Power level teaches a skater how to get down the ice faster and more efficiently with fewer strides- essential skills for scoring the win.
USA Hockey recommends the use are and skill appropriate drills to teach the skaters how to skate AND play hockey. It is important for these players to become comfortable on the ice, learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, and use of edges before moving to a Learn to Play or ADM age-appropriate training.
